The “Portrait with Avocado Plant,” is about 40 years old. The scowl is just for fun and does not reflect my normal disposition. It gives the drawing more presence and the avocado plant balances out the composition. Forty years ago the compositions weren’t worked out before the beginning of the drawing.
Like most artists, I don’t come alive until after 12:00 PM, Pacific Standard Time, but office hours are noon until 8:00 PM. It would be inaccurate to say I will be standing by. I think I will be sitting by and scratching a piece of pastel across a black piece of paper. We can talk about art–mine or other peoples.
